Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy

By Herbal Remedies at 2009-05-21 04:58:20
Bell's Palsy is a paralysis or weakness of the muscles of one side of the face, usually due to damage to the facial nerve. It may also affect the sense of taste, salivation and tear formation. Most patients improve spontaneously within a few weeks to a few months, however, a few may have permanent residual facial weakness.

Medicated oils used for local application, oral intake and nasal therapy are: Bala (Sida cordifolia) oil, Narayan (Asparagus racemosus) oil and Chandan-Bala-Laxadi oil.

For refractory patients, some physicians advise blood-letting from a nearby vein or by leech therapy. Courses of medicated enemas are also advised in some patients.

Milk, ghee, butter, mutton soup and black gram are advised in the diet in large quantities. It is best to avoid prolonged exposure to cold.

Peptic ulcer is a common term which includes both gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer. Smoking, excessive caffeine (tea/coffee) intake, alcohol, excessive spices, stress and pain-killers like aspirin may cause or aggravate peptic ulcer.

Ayurveda has specific and highly effective oral treatment for peptic ulcer. Some of the well known medicines are: Shankh Bhasma, Praval Panchamrut, Kamdudha and Sutshekhar Rasa. Herbal medicines known to be effective in this condition are: Amalaki (Emblica oficinalis), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Usheera (Vetiveria zizanoides), Bhunimbadi (containing mainly Andrographis paniculata) qadha (decoction) and Patoladi (containing mainly Trichosanthes dioica) qadha. Usually, complete relief is obtained in a period of four to eight weeks.

Treatment for the two types of diseases is totally different, in fact, quite contrasting. Nir-upastambhit vata is treated with Snehapaan (oral intake of oil or ghee), Abhyanga (oil massage), Shirobasti (medicated, prolonged lubrication therapy of the scalp), and Anuvasan Basti ( medicated, lubricating enema). Bala (Sida cordifolia) oil, Mahanarayan (containing mainly Asparagus racemosus) oil, and milk are some of the materials used for medicated enema. The medicines used orally are: Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), Masha (Phaseolus mungo), Kohla, Abhrak Bhasma, Raupya Bhasma, Suvarna Bhasma, Chandan-Bala-Laxadi Oil, Shatavari kalpa, Kushmand-avaleha, Mahayogaraj Guggulu and Vasant-kusumakar Rasa. Thus, the overall aim here is to build up and strengthen the body tissues.

Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), also called Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura, is a blood-clotting disorder resulting from unusually low levels of platelets, and can lead to easy or excessive bruising and bleeding. While children and adults can be both affected, this disorder is often chronic in adults. Young females are more likely to get this disease, and this condition is more likely to develop after a recent viral infection. Spontaneous and excessive bleeding, and pin-point sized reddish purple spots on the skin, called petechiae, are diagnostic of this condition. Immune dysfunction is believed to be responsible for this disease.

The most common male infertility factors include azoospermia (no sperm cells are produced) and oligospermia (few sperm cells are produced). Sometimes, the quality of sperm cells is very poor, resulting in poor fertility. Treatment depends upon the identifiable cause.

Mumps, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases can affect sperm production by causing inflammation and obstruction in the male genital tract. This condition may be treated using Aswagandha , Shatavari, Yashtimadhuk ,Pippali , Guduchi, Kutki, Punarnava, Kaishor Guggulu and Triphala Guggulu. Medicated oils like Mahanarayan oil (containing mainly Shatavari), Mahamash oil (containing mainly black gram) and Saindhav oil are used for local application on the scrotal skin.
